This comes despite ongoing affirmations from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Biden regarding the significance of the India-US partnership.
In an interview with CNBC, Navarro addressed the stalled trade negotiations between the two countries, stating, 'India is engaging in discussions. Prime Minister Modi recently shared a positive and constructive tweet, to which President Trump replied. However, in practical terms, we recognize that India imposes the highest tariffs among major nations and has substantial non-tariff barriers. We are addressing these issues as we do with other nations that have similar practices.'
